Sometimes Jasper would rather ride a boy than his faithful steed...
This week’s wonderful slice of slash heaven is Bad Timing by We’re JazzEd. We’re JazzEd is the writing duo consisting of cocoalvin, author of It All and Insomnia, and bellemeer, author of There's a Crack in Everything (see the Save a Horse, Ride a CowBOY review here) and TACIE What Ifs.
Bad Timing tells the story of childhood friends, Jasper and Edward, growing up in Australia – yes, this Jasper and Edward are Australian. :) They have been best friends forever, but unforeseeable circumstances cause them to lose touch with each other. Although their separation is extremely painful for both of them, they continue to try to live life and move forward.
After many years, Jasper and Edward happen to run into each other at a pub one evening. All I can say is that their reunion will absolutely warm your heart. While catching up, Edward reveals that he’s gay. At first Jasper is cool with it, but soon starts to pull away from Edward – not because of Edward’s sexuality, but because he’s starting to develop feelings for Edward; feelings that are completely foreign and very scary.
Anytime there is a slow build up of a romantic relationship between Jasper and Edward in a story, I’m completely hooked. This story is a slow burn as there are quite a few chapters before the guys ever come face-to-face. However, all of that waiting is worth it because the pay-off is spectacular! After sixteen chapters (at the time of posting), Bad Timing is still as engrossing as ever, probably more so because of the major events that have recently taken place. *big smile*
For those of us not familiar with Aussie lingo, We’re JazzEd provides a glossary of terms at the end of each chapter, which is a great help!
Definitely check out Bad Timing! If you’re looking for a love story that will leave you literally panting for more, this is the one for you!
Be sure to check out the companion tumblr because it provides images of many of things, people and places mentioned in the story.
