This week's slash selection is one of my all-time favorites, Open Heart by starfish422.

Jasper is the super/maintenance man in a building which houses a motley crew of seniors. In exchange for fixing things around the building, Jasper has a nice, comfy place to live. He doesn't have family, but it content with his neighbors and views them as surrogate grandfathers and grandmothers. When the handsome Dr. Edward Cullen moves into the building, the two men do not immediately hit it off. Edward actually insults Jasper. In an effort to make amends and try to get to know the charismatic super better, Edward finds various things around his apartment that need fixed. Even though they eventually get to know each other better and form a pretty good friendship, their relationship is anything but easy and smooth. There are many bumps in the road that threaten to end everything in a heartbeat.

I remember reading this story over two years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. Not only did starfish422 create two interesting characters for Jasper and Edward, but the secondary characters add another layer depth and complexity to an already captivating story. I don't want to give anything away, but I can assure you that you will want to smack both Edward and Jasper over the head more than once because of their stubborness; however, you'll also fall in love with them.
