My Life Extended by LyricalKris
After reading her entry for the Loving Bellsper Contest, I knew that I had to go through LyricalKris' profile for more Jasper goodness because I loved her writing style and her Jas was beyond yummy-licious. When I saw that My Life Extended had a criminally low 64 reviews, I knew then and there that it had to be my next rec.
We start off with Bella and her gay BFF, Edward, at a fashion show thrown by Alice's boyfriend (who is someone you'd never even THINK of pairing Ali with!) At the end of the show, he calls Alice on the runway and proposes. She says yes, of course, but Bella worriedly notices the slight panic in her friend's face before she accepts.
After parties and celebrations galore, Bella finally gets Alice alone and confronts her friend about her hesitance.
"For a long while, Alice didn't speak. Instead, she clutched at the pillow on Bella's couch, squeezing it in her hands like a stress ball. The tension between the two women mounted and finally, Bella couldn't take it anymore. "Jeez, Alice, spit it out. Is it really that bad?"
"No. Yes... I don't know," Alice cried. She let go of the pillow and covered her face with her hands.
Quickly, Bella stood from where she was curled up on her armchair and went to sit next to Alice. The other woman was all about theatrics but dramatic she wasn't. She put her arm around her friend. "You're scaring me."
"It's just that... well... I'm married," Alice blurted, the sound muffled by her hands over her face."
Yes. Married.
And guess who her husband is... Jasper!
Now, like me, you're probably thinking "How in the hell will Bella and Jasper end up together, if he's married to Alice?"
The answer: I have no damn clue.
And the kicker? Alice is scared to death of him because he used to abuse her! What the hell, right? But maybe not everything is as it seems because when Bella travels back to Forks to serve Jasper papers, he and the whole town seem jaded over Alice's abrupt departure. And meeting Jasper is nothing at all what Bella expected it to be.
"Bella's tongue seemed stuck.
He didn't look like a cop. He looked like a male stripper at a bachelorette party dressed up as a cop. His uniform hugged the musculature of his arms and hinted that his abs might be just as defined. His face was handsome in that way that bordered on the obscene, especially with the way he was smiling at the moment. For the first time, Bella understood how Alice could let herself be manipulated by this man. When he looked at her with that grin, her brain seemed to melt a little. Panty dropping was the least of her worries. She would have dropped her panties and killed her own mother if he asked."
*drooling*
Sorry. What? Oh yeah...
Upon hearing Alice's name, Jas loses his cool and throws Bella in a jail cell. Overreact, much? But after a few minutes, he lets her out and apologizes. It seems as though he's tense and heartbroken because after no word from Alice for years, he finally finds a video of her on the internet... a video of his wife being proposed to. Yeah, I'd be a little salty, too.
Bella is on a mission to get him to sign the divorce papers, so Alice can move on with her fairy tale life. But Jasper refuses to do so and Bella refuses to leave until he does so. See the problem?
There's lots of tension, angry glares and snide comments, but Bella brushes it off. She's a woman on a mission. Hopefully in the near future, that mission will be sexin' Jasper. *giggles*
I honestly can't wait to see how Bella and Jasper's relationship evolves and strengthens. I also can't wait to find out what really happened between Jas and Ali... and how Alice will react when she discovers that her friend is dating her husband. Juicy!
Head on over and read My Life Extended, Copsper is enough to make me wanna go and read it again! Be sure to review, I promise you'll like it! ^_^
