Before we get started, I'd like to take a moment to squee because I can't believe I'm here! Squeee!!!
Okay, now that that's out of the way, I'd like to talk about a wonderful poly fic written by the uber talented fngrcufs. With only 93 reviews, Conjunction highly underappreciated because in my opinion, it should have at least a kablillion reviews. Seriously.
Conjunction isn't your every day lemon-filled poly story-- although I'm not complaining about lemon-filled poly stories ;-) This fic is full of emotion and characters with a depth that is beautifully written.
In it, we're first introduced to Victoria who is infatuated with Bella. But alas, Victoria comes to the conclusion that she'll never be able have Miss Bella, since she's taken by a very doting Jasper.
Wrong.
Unbeknownst to her, Bella and Jasper quite frequently invite other women into their bedroom-- and on one particular night, they invite her.
After a night of tentative touches and sensual times, it's revealed that the happy couple actually want Vicki to join them in their relationship. For good.
Of course Victoria accepts, but we slowly see that maybe Jasper isn't too keen on a third person joining in on what he and Bella have.
"I'll fuck her, right here on this couch, in a matter of minutes. I'll rip off the thin, white tank top and find nothing underneath. I'll ease her out of the white cotton panties. I'll lay her out on the tan tweed and run my hands over every inch of her. I'll circle her nipples with my tongue and tug at them with my teeth. I'll part her legs and devour her until she can't speak. I'll reduce her to whimpers and sighs. And I'll take her. I'll make her mine again, even if it is just for tonight. Because I know that she wants it, that she needs it as much as she needs Victoria. She needs us both; that's why I do this."
These little glimpses into Jasper's mind can be heartbreaking. To realize that he's only agreeing to share Bella in order to keep her...
"I spread her legs with my palms, opening her to me. She's beautiful, glistening in the dim light. From the heat, from the spilled drink, from thinking about what I'm going to do to her. From all of it. I press my lips, cold from the beer, against her skin. She burns beneath me until I push my tongue inside her and then she burns around me. It's hot on cold, ice on fire. I cool her and she heats me and I don't fucking go slow because I don't want to and she doesn't need me to get her ready because she's already there, coming on my tongue and screaming name. It's almost instant. I could stop, but I don't because I've got a point to prove and I want to make her come again, over and over again so that when day breaks tomorrow and there are red gold curls that catch her eye, I want her to bear the marks of me, of this, so she doesn't forget."
His desperation is palpable. He'll do anything to keep Bella, but no matter what he does, it won't be enough for her. He'll never be enough for her.
"I've got my hand on her hip and I reach forward, pulling back on her shoulder, arching her up. Everything is hot, the air, our skin, her body where I'm pressed inside. It's tight and deep and I can feel everything as I bury myself within her, over and over and she's clenching and crying out for me, just me, only me. I come hard and it's just us. No one else. The way I need it to be. They way I want her to need it just as much. The way it won't be anymore."
It's so easy to want to hate Bella, to hold disdain toward Victoria for putting Jasper through such pain. But as we get a glimpse of each person through their point of view, it becomes more and more difficult to place the blame on anyone. Believe me, I tried.
Conjunction is a beautiful and sometimes heart-wrenching story of three people trying to find and keep the love that they crave. Each chapter delves deeper into the relationship between these three and leaves you practically aching for more.
When it comes to good reads, it just doesn't get much better than Conjunction.
