Trivia Winner Debruk34

Hey y'all! Our Trivia winner from last week, Debruk34, is also a very talented author. As a little prize for her quick brain and fast fingers on our Trivia segment, I wanted to tell y'all about a very cool little Jasper/Bella two-shot she's written.

Three Long Years, One Spontaneous Night

Author: debruk34 PM
Jasper and Bella have missed the opportunity to date one another for three long years. They are finally single at the same time...in Las Vegas...what will one night of spontaneity bring them? A two part story, rated M for language and lemons. AH, J/B
Rated: Fiction M - English - Romance - Jasper & Bella - Reviews: 12 - Chapters: 2 - Words: 11,546 - Updated: 06-01-12 - Published: 05-28-12 - Status: Complete

Now, some of y'all may know that I have a little bit of a soft spot for well written AH Jasper & Bella stories. I'll also be the first to tell you that finding a really compelling and UNRUSHED one-shot or two-shot is few and far between. Debruk34 has done a brilliant job here with this one.

It's loosely based on Carrie Underwood's "Last Name", but it's not a songfic, so don't let that turn you off or keep you from reading. It's more like the song is the inspiration for the fic rather than being the basis of it.

One of the things I really enjoyed about her story was that she used canon characters in ways I didn't expect. As an AH story, it's sometimes difficult to figure out how to translate relationships without those supernatural elements. Here we're exposed to Mike Newton, Tyler Crowley, Jacob Black, Edward Cullen, Emmett & Rosalie, Jasper, & Bella (and a brief mention of Jessica) but they all have a somewhat unique spin and flavor. Not exactly non-canon, but not exactly stereotypically canon either. In my opinion, that's the mark of a talented author.

The background for the two-shot is Emmett & Rosalie's Vegas Wedding for a group of college friends, a last hurrah of sorts before they all go their separate ways and join the "real world". It's a surreal backdrop for a unique and mature plot. (mature in a well-developed way as well as lemony fresh way...it is rated M for a reason, kiddos)

At any rate, I am so excited that Debruk34 was our winner so that I was able to discover her work and have the opportunity to pass on the awesomeness to you. Check out Three Long Years, One Spontaneous Night and leave her some love and make sure she knows The Darlin's sent you!
