Save a Horse, Ride a CowBOY: Turns by Tkegl

Sometimes Jasper would rather ride a boy than his faithful steed...

Today we’re going to take a look at the hauntingly beautiful Turns by Tkegl.

It’s 1963 and two young men, Jasper and Edward, reluctantly develop feelings for one another in a time when homosexuality is not just looked down upon, but can get a person killed. Jasper and Edward work hard to keep their intense relationship a secret until one tragic night when everything changes.

Be sure to have some Kleenex nearby because you will most likely cry sometime during this story. Tkegl takes you from the highest of highest to the lowest of lows in this emotionally charged tale. You will rage at the injustice that befalls both Edward and Jasper and want to encourage Jasper as he attempts to move forward with his life.

Tkegl has written some incredible stories and Turns is no exception (before I discovered slash, one of my favorites of hers was All Aboard. Talk about a scorcher!), winning first place Judge’s Vote and Best Secondary Centric Story in the Seasons of Discontent Anonymous Angst Contest last year. Please take a moment to read this beautiful story of love, loss and acceptance.
