This week we’re going to take a look at the wonderfully beautiful story When the Night Comes by Drizl.
After his heart was broken by Edward Cullen, Jasper Hale is determined to stay away from everything and everyone that remotely reminded him of the time and love he once shared with the man. He moved far away from Forks and only visits his mother and sister, Rosalie, on rare occasions. As the years passed, Jasper’s anger and hatred for Edward continued to grow. One day receives a phone call saying his mother is terminally ill and that he should come and see her...it may be the last time he has the opportunity. Although Jasper wants to be there for his mother, he is still wary of returning to the place where his heart was crushed so many years before.
Regardless of the number of years that had passed and the fact that people change, Jasper is hellbent on sticking it to Edward and making him feel as lousy and Edward made him feel a long time ago. Little do both of them know that Jasper’s wise mother has set in motion a series of events that will force the men to confront their pain, frustrations and inner most feelings toward one another.
When the Night Comes is one of those stories that will suck you in right from the start. Jasper is so hurt and angry by Edward’s selfish actions during high school that he can barely see straight. Even though Edward tries to atone for what he did, Jasper doesn’t want to hear it. He wants to make him suffer. The emotions that emanate from Drizl’s words are so palpable that I found myself feeling Jasper’s anger and confusion and Edward’s shame, hope and love.
The journey Drizl creates for Jasper and Edward is not an easy one, but I know it’ll be one that you’ll enjoy reading and exploring. When the Night Comes is one of the few stories that I have gone back and read more than once. The twists and turns that will shock you and you’ll find yourself wanting to scream at some of the characters, particularly Jasper for his stubbornness.
Drizl has written so many awesome stories, but this one will always be a favorite. Please check out this epic story of redemption, acceptance, forgiveness and love! You will be so glad you did!
