Sometimes Jasper would rather ride a boy than his faithful steed...
This week, I’m excited to rec This Old House by TrueEnglishRose!
Jasper Whitlock, wealthy CEO of his family's business, purchases the historical Whitlock Manor, built by his great, great grandfather, with hopes of restoring it to its former glory so that future generations may enjoy it. While in the process of beginning renovations, he discovers a young man squatting in the house. He is obvious homeless, his appearance in disarray and his clothes dirty and tattered.
With the help of his sister, Rosalie, Jasper learns the young man’s name, Edward, and discovers that the skittish, wide-eyed young man has lived through some terrible experiences. After a good bath, shave and hair cut, Jasper is completely floored by the man’s beauty. Feeling an overwhelming sense of protectiveness, Jasper sets out to help and befriend the young man and uncover his problems from the past.
While This Old House is still in its early stages (five chapters have been posted at the time of this rec), it has already captured my heart. The way TrueEnglishRose writes her characters will make you fall in love with them. I already want to hug Edward, who is such a sweet soul, and cheer for Jasper, who is going against the grain and reaching out to help a virtual stranger. Even though their age difference and social status may cause problems in the future, I can’t wait to see how their relationship grows and progresses.
Please take a moment to check out this story. It’s so heartwarming and will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. lol
