Save a Horse, Ride a CowBOY: The Limits of Time by Peace.Love.Me

Sometimes Jasper would rather ride a boy than his faithful steed....

This week’s story is The Limits of Time by Peace.Love.Me. It’s a wonderfully angsty story that I think everyone should check out.

The story begins with Jasper loathing the idea of being shipped off to his father’s house for his bi-weekly visit. He holds a lot of anger and pain after his parents’ divorce and it doesn’t help that his father, Charlie, has remarried. His step-mother, Renee, also has a son of her own, Edward, whom Jasper hates with a passion. He’s the golden child who can do no wrong while Jasper consistently skips school, hangs out with the wrong crowd and regularly gets into trouble.

Visiting his father is always a chore because he can’t stand the sight of the new happy family his father now has while Jasper and his mother live all on their own. Jasper also hates the way his step-brother stares at him; it makes him very uncomfortable. Edward’s calm demeanor and ability to brush things off just pisses Jasper off even more and increases his hatred. Even though Edward tries to be kind, all of his efforts are obliterated by the anger and resentment Jasper throws at him. Things turn violent when Jasper basically beats up Edward for virtually no reason. What startles Jasper most is that Edward just took the beating, as well as all of the hurtful words Jasper hurls at him regularly. Jasper can’t understand why Edward acts this way, but he almost instantly feels the signs of regret and remorse for his actions; something he rarely feels towards anyone.

Throughout the course of the story, Jasper struggles with his newfound interest in Edward. Jasper wants to be a better person, but exhibiting the bad behavior everyone’s come to expect is so much easier and, in some cases, more fun.

The Limits of Time immediately drew me in and made me want to know more about Jasper’s issues and what makes quiet and subdued Edward tick. Edward has his own demons he fights on a daily basis that make you admire him for his strength and patience.

This story definitely captivated me and I know it will do the same for you!

Check it out!
